Design Your Garden, by Caroline Tilston
Caroline Tilston approached me to feature a small garden I designed in Bow as one of ten gardens, a chapter for each, demonstrating different design situations and solutions. She called the garden ‘surprise’ as it’s a tiny space on a higher level from the house that completely loses the boundaries and leads through planting along a hidden path to a shady seating area.
A curved wall and steps mean that there is a sense of adventure and the desire to explore while not taking up too much space in the hard landscaping – the plants are key, here.
